The new TAC AR™ (Assault Rack) with Advanced Webless System (AWS) features state-of-the-art Honeywell Spectra® Composite material which reduces the overall carrier weight by an impressive 20%. The AWS benefits don’t stop there. The new Spectra material also has a break strength that is over 15% stronger than standard 1000 Denier Nylon. Complimented with high slit/tear strength, increased puncture resistance and overall resistance to flex fatigue.

The TAC AWS includes all of the same features as the standard TAC AR with the additions of the Honeywell Spectra® Composite – Advanced Webless System (AWS) and a split front closure system.

An officer's body armor only performs at its best when it is properly taken care of. This product care section should serve as an educational platform to teach you the proper ways to care for your newly acquired body armor.

It is extremely important that you read and fully understand this section prior to using your armor.

 

Maintenance

Taking a pro-active approach to maintain the integrity of your body armor will prove to be a vital part of ensuring its longevity and durability.

DO NOT:


  • Use a clothes dryer

  • Bleach

  • Hang Iron

  • Use tape

 

Cleaning your armor panels and plates

 

Your armor panels are what contain ballistic-resistant fibers that perform in an effort to stop a bullet. PROPER CLEANING OF YOUR ARMOR PANELS IS ESSENTIAL. Improper care of your armor panels can lead to premature fiber degrading and compromise the ballistic integrity of your armor.

 


  • DO NOT MACHINE WASH

  • DO NOT ALLOW TO SOAK IN STANDING WATER

  • DO NOT PLACE USE CLOTHES DRYER TO DRY

  • DO NOT DRY IN SUNLIGHT

  • DO NOT USE HARSH CHEMICALS (Such as strong detergents, bleach or fabric softener)

 


  1. Remove the armor panels, trauma inserts and special threat plates from the carrier.

  2. Gently wipe the armor panels with a damp sponge and a mixture of cool water and mild antimicrobial soap or mild laundry detergent.

  3. Wipe off excess soap with clean water and a damp sponge. Wipe dry. DO NOT HANG OR LINE DRY. DO NOT PLACE IN THE SUN.

  4. Ensure panels are completely dry before reinserting into the carrier.

  5. Make sure the panels are reinserted properly with the “strike face” side facing away from your body.

 

Be sure to engage the shoulder suspension which secures the armor panel to the carrier garment.

 

Cleaning your Carrier and Tactical Accessories

 


  1. Remove all armor panels (front and back, groin, biceps), special threat plates, pouches and ID patches before attempting to clean the carrier.

  2. For non-removable accessories such as some yokes, biceps and groins use a clean, damp cloth and mild anti-microbial soap to wipe them clean.

  3. Detach all fixed hook and loop fasteners.

  4. Use a soft, clean cloth in a back-and-forth motion to remove dust, dirt and loose matter.

  5. To treat tough spots on the carrier’s exterior, use a soft brush with antimicrobial soap and water. Wipe off excess soap with a clean, damp cloth.

  6. Lie carrier on a flat surface and allow to air dry.

  7. Make sure the carrier is completely dry before inserting armor panels, trauma inserts and special threat plates.
